Halloween Through the Years

Knotted Woods Productions has changed a lot since our first yard display.

Over the years, we’ve experimented with different themes, walk-through layouts, props, lighting, sound, actors, and technology. Each season has taught us something new and helped shape what Knotted Woods has become today.

Take a look back at some of our past Halloween experiences.

2024 — Vampire Haunt

Lights-On + Full Actor Walkthrough

In 2024, Knotted Woods transformed into a vampire-themed walk-through filled with detailed sets, atmospheric lighting, props, sound, and live actors.

The walkthrough video includes both a lights-on look at the build and the full Halloween-night experience with actors in place.

It was one of our most ambitious walk-through builds and brought together many of the ideas, props, and techniques developed over previous seasons.

2023 — Whispers of the Abyss

Dark Hallway • Swamp • Doll Room • Spider Bridge

The 2023 walk-through took visitors through several themed environments, including a dark hallway, foggy swamp, unsettling doll room, and the Spider Bridge.

This season focused heavily on creating different environments within a single walk-through and using lighting, sound, scenery, and props to give each area its own atmosphere.

2022 — Wendigo

Garage Walk-Through

In 2022, Knotted Woods moved into a garage-based walk-through with a darker woodland theme.

The build continued our experimentation with enclosed spaces, themed scenery, lighting, sound, and creating a complete experience within a relatively small footprint.

This is where Knotted Woods began.

Our first Halloween yard haunt focused on creating a graveyard display that families could enjoy from outside. It was simpler than the walk-through experiences that followed, but it established many of the ideas that still define Knotted Woods today.

What started as a Halloween yard project eventually grew into larger builds, themed walk-throughs, lighting effects, technology, and an annual creative challenge.
